Hello BCAC Members, my name is Brian Bartley and I am excited to be joining your club. Born and raised in Powell River, BC, my flying journey started as an Air Cadet with 22 Red Knight Squadron, travelling to CFB Comox for gliding weekends and familiarization flights with the Westview Flying Club. After graduating from UVic, I spent the better part of 2 decades in various engineering roles throughout Canada and USA in the oilfield services industry. Once gainfully employed, I started my Private Pilot training in Colorado in the Mile High City and completed my certificate alongside the UFO’s in Roswell, NM. I have been fortunate to fly in several provinces, states and countries, most recently completing my Seaplane Rating in Talkeetna, Alaska. Like many others, 2020 threw me a curveball and I returned home to BC, where I have started my Commercial Pilot training towards my goal of becoming a professional Bush Pilot. In addition to flying, I enjoy most outdoor activities, am an avid woodworker and jack of most trades. I’m looking forward to getting out am meeting everyone! Cheers, Brian
