2023 Airshow will Highlight Women in Aviation

March 6, 2023 --- As Women in Aviation Worldwide Week takes off today, the Abbotsford International Airshow is excited to announce that this year’s event will feature several talented female role models in aviation and aerospace. The Abbotsford Airshow, the largest aviation festival in Canada, will highlight female participation both in the air and on the ground. This initiative supports the Airshow Society’s goal of promoting aviation to all and igniting a passion for flight.

In the air, Airshow goers can expect feature performances from world-class aviators including Major Kristin Wolfe, commander and pilot of the United States Air Force F-35 Lightning II Demonstration Team; Lieutenant Brianna Bilunas, Electronic Warfare Officer with the United States Navy E/A-18 Growler Demonstration Team; unlimited world aerobatic competitor Melissa Burns; and Vera Martinovich, B-25 Mitchell Warbird pilot. On the ground, young women and girls can expect specialized aviation-themed exhibits, education and activities, as well as a significant representation by women across visiting static aircraft crews from Canada, the United States and beyond in both military and civilian roles.

“The aerospace industry is facing global shortages in almost all skilled professions,” says Dave Reith, Executive Director of the Abbotsford International Airshow. “The Airshow is a powerful platform for inspiration and to promote a more diverse industry. We are always excited to showcase excellence and this summer’s lineup and activities are a great opportunity to introduce all of our young spectators to great female role models.”

The Airshow is making changes to our ticketing plan for 2023 to significantly improve our guest experience, especially event entry and exit. This will include limits on available tickets as well as changes to the types of tickets that are available. Stay tuned for more information about these changes coming very soon.
