Event Overview

At our annual Silver Wings Industry and Scholarship Awards Celebration, the BCAC recognizes aviation and aerospace industry colleagues for specific achievements. As well, we disburse over $200,000 through our Aviation and Aerospace Scholarship Awards Program to hard-working students enrolled in aviation and/or aerospace programs in British Columbia. This is the largest scholarship program of its kind in Canada.

We invite you to join us at this inspiring annual Celebration on November 14th, 2025, at Vancouver Convention Centre West, Floor 3, for an evening of fine food, live entertainment, an online auction, a 50/50 Draw, a vibrant awards ceremony and unparalleled relationship-building opportunities.

Online Auction

(Photo/Air Canada Vacations – Tuscany and the Po Valley, Italy)

One of the most popular (and important) aspects of our annual Silver Wings Scholarship and Industry Awards Celebration is the SW-25 Online Auction.

The BCAC administers the largest aviation and aerospace Scholarship Awards Program in Canada, disbursing over $200,000 annually to hard-working students actively enrolled in aviation or aerospace education programs in British Columbia. Half of the proceeds from the SW-25 Online Auction directly support this Scholarship Awards Program, the remaining half supports other BCAC Programs and Services including our extremely popular Youth Engagement Programs, i.e. "Hangar Hangout" events.

We have a wide array of fantastic auction items graciously donated by our Affiliates, Supporters, Sponsors and Benefactors. Please visit SW-25 Online Auction to view all of the items on offer – we're sure you'll find something to pique your interest! Please bid generously and often as competition for items can be lively. Good luck and thank you for supporting the future of the aviation and aerospace industry in British Columbia.

PLEASE NOTE The SW-25 Online Auction ends on Friday, November 28th at 18:00 Pacific so, even if you're unable to attend our Silver Wings Celebration, you can still bid on items and help support the future of the aviation/aerospace industry in British Columbia.

Sponsorship or Donation Inquiries?

BCAC Executive Director Dave Frank would be pleased to assist you.

50/50 Draw

A 50/50 draw will be held over the course of the evening:

All gross (not net) proceeds support BCAC's scholarships and other programs.

Draw held immediately following the awards ceremony (about 9pm). Must be present to win.

Entertainment

Please welcome our new Piper, Andrew Lee! Andrew will be leading our Scholarship Winners to glory during the Awards Ceremony part of the evening. Welcome, Andrew!

Andrew Lee has been piping since the age of 5 and is a current member of the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. During his time with the band, Andrew has won the World Pipe Band Championships twice (2008 and 2009). Prior to joining SFU, he was a member of the Robert Malcolm Memorial juvenile pipe band where he won three Juvenile World Pipe Band Championships. He has also won many solo prizes throughout North America and Scotland including the US Silver Medal, US Gold Medal (twice), and BC Pipers Cairn for Open Piobaireachd.

Outside of playing bagpipes, he along with his father Jack, are the owners of Lee & Sons Bagpipes in Surrey, BC. Lee & Sons produce hand-made bagpipes, pipe bags, and chanter reeds.

Back by popular demand, the smooth stylings of the Seth Kitamura Trio will provide live music during the Main Reception. Featuring Seth Kitamura, Raphael Agustin and Francis Naluz. Welcome back!

For the third year in a row, our popular Portrait Artist Cory Van Ieperen will be also sharing his talent with our guests, providing them with a fun memento of the evening! Have a seat in Cory's chair and Cory will provide you with a fun caricature that you can take home with you. Visit Cory's website to learn more about this talented artist!

Making his magical debut at the Silver Wings this year, magician Rob Teszka will be entertaining our guests before the awards ceremony!

Rob performs charming, witty magic that is skillfully woven together with interesting stories and unusual ideas. You can find him entertaining at corporate events and private parties throughout Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Rob also produces and hosts the Parlour Magic Show—Vancouver's very own variety magic show—and tours his off-broadway-style, one-man shows at Canadian theatres. A favourable review once called him "a genuine eccentric". It's probably because he knots his own bow ties.

This year's event will be recorded for posterity by our event photographer, Brendan McAlpine of  Brendan McAlpine Photography. Brendan has an extensive portfolio, including event photography, so we're very pleased to welcome Brendan to his first – but, hopefully not last – Silver Wings Celebration!

For the first time in Silver Wing's history, this year we are featuring a pop-up bookstore! Authors Tim Cole ("Tight Floats and Tailwinds") and Kelly Jamieson ("The ABCs of Airplanes" and "The ABCs of Airports") will be present to answer questions and sign copies of their books. Steve Drinkwater, Publisher of the Canadian Aviator Magazine and Proprietor of the Aviator's Bookshelf will also be in attendance with a selection of titles for your reading pleasure. Drop by the bookstore to learn more!
