At our annual Silver Wings Industry and Scholarship Awards Celebration, the BCAC recognizes aviation and aerospace industry colleagues for specific achievements. As well, we disburse almost $100,000 through our Scholarship Awards Program to hard-working students enrolled in aviation and/or aerospace programs in British Columbia. We invite you to join us at this annual gala Celebration at the Vancouver Convention Centre West for an evening of fine food, live entertainment, an online auction, a 50/50 draw, a vibrant awards ceremony and unparalleled networking opportunities.
Registration now open.
Additionally, BCAC's Chair, Heather McCarley (Vantage Airport Group), and BCAC's Vice-Chair, Cathy Press (Chinook Helicopters) host a pre-event Women in Aviation and Aerospace Reception from 16:45-17:45. Admission is by invitation and a voluntary donation to the Mary Swain Scholarship fund which supports women in aviation. Entertainment
Our Silver Wings event will enjoy the musical stylings of the Seth Kitamura Trio featuring Seth Kitamura on drums, Raphael Agustin on bass, and Patrick Kao on guitar.
Please welcome our new Piper, Alastair Lee. Alastair is an Honours Graduate in Sound Engineering from the Art Institute of Vancouver. He has been a member of the World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band since 2008 and has appeared with the pipe band at various venues throughout the world including the Lincoln Centre in New York City, and the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow (sometimes on keyboard as well as pipes). Alastair is also a prominent solo piper in the Pacific Northwest and has won many top awards including the prestigious “A Marches” and “A Strathspey & Reel” at the Argyllshire Gathering in Oban, Scotland. While piping is his first interest, he enjoys playing many instruments and composing his own music.
"Corycatures"
From 4:45PM - 7:25PM, Portrait Artist Cory Van Ieperen will be sharing his talent with our guests, providing them with a fun memento of the evening! Have a seat in Cory's chair and Cory will provide you with a fun caricature that you can take home with you. Visit Cory's website to learn more.
Silver Wings 2023 Online Auction
One of the most popular (and important) aspects of our annual Silver Wings Scholarship and Industry Awards Celebration is the Online Auction.
As you may already know, the BCAC administers the largest aviation and aerospace Scholarship Award Program in Canada, disbursing almost $100,000 to hard-working students enrolled in aviation or aerospace education programs in British Columbia. Half of the proceeds from the Online Auction directly support our Scholarship Awards Program, the remaining half support other BCAC programs and services including our extremely popular Youth Engagement Programs, i.e. monthly "Hangar Hangout" events.
We have a wide array of amazing auction items graciously donated by our benefactors and supporters. Please visit our Silver Wings Online Auction webpage (www.32auctions.com/SW-23) to view all of the items on offer - we're sure you'll find something to pique your interest!
