George Nowak
George is a Senior Airport Engineer and Project Manager with over 40 years’ experience in pavement engineering, airport planning, design and construction supervision and infrastructure assessment. He is also Hatch Infrastructure’s Deputy Practice Area Director for airports.
George has expertise in airport master planning, feasibility studies, and design and construction management on domestic airport projects and in 32 other countries. He has been responsible for managing large, multidisciplinary planning, design and construction supervision teams for airside pavements, passenger terminals, control towers, airfield lighting systems and navigational aids. George's most recent projects include major terminal apron projects at international airports, pavement advisor on design-build projects, feasibility studies and detailed design for new runways, runway siting for a major greenfield airport, program management services and expert airport pavement advisory services as well as facility designs for deicing facilities and upgrades to existing airfield systems.
He was the senior engineering design manager on the program management team for the new parallel runway in Calgary which is the longest runway in Canada and opened in June, 2014. He also recently acted as the Airside Design Manager for the Scheme Design on the Third Runway System project at Hong Kong International Airport. George is also the recipient of the Professional Engineers of Ontario Medal for Engineering Excellence, 2012 and in 2015 received the Airfield Pavement Practitioner Award from his peers at the American Society of Civil Engineers. Currently he is assigned as the Airside Pavement Design Lead for the new T5 at Changi International Airport in Singapore.
