Michael Hooper
Mike worked in land management positions in the forest industry for 26 years - followed by 2 years as a business consultant. He has been a member of numerous Boards; including the Chamber of Commerce, Nanaimo Airport Commission, CVRD Park Commission, the BC Forest Museum, BC Aviation Council, Airports Association of BC, and many others.
Mike accepted the appointment of airport President and CEO in May, 2006 and retired from the position in the spring of 2020. During a 14 year term the NAC team completed a number of improvements at the Nanaimo Airport to meet the needs of the surrounding communities and continue as an economic engine for the region.
Mike is the Principle Consultant for TAK Consulting. (www.TakBusiness.ca) and is working full time for the BC Government.
Following a year as a Negotiator for BC with the Te’mexw Treaty Table, Mike is now a Regional Director with the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR).
Mike was born and raised on Vancouver Island - he has lived in the mid-island area since the early 1960’s, where he and his wife Kathy have raised three daughters, and are now enjoying the adventures of seven grandchildren.
