Great Grandmother Seymour, The Matriarch of the North, and finds her way through
story-telling and the sacred arts of music and dance as deeply personal and inter-generational healing.

Kim Hayhurst, Portrait Artist
Kim Hayhurst is the owner of The Makerie Craft and Coffee Bar, located in downtown Prince George, where folks can enjoy specialty drinks and treats while partaking in crafts and creativity.
Before opening the Makerie, Kim spent more than 20 years fine tuning her skills in communications, marketing, program development and graphic design. Most of her experience came from working at an economic development agency, one of Canada’s top universities, and freelancing with businesses, communities, and non-profit organizations throughout Northern BC.
Kim always wanted to be an artist, and after years away from the field, she felt a calling to return to it as a healing activity. Not able to dedicate the time required to paint, crafts became her art of choice. The more she did it, the more other people wanted to participate. She became known for her creative and unique perspective, skill set and approach to her work.
Kim soon recognized that most adults she worked with were terrified of the creative process. Usually, it stemmed from someone saying their art looked funny, and then they decided they weren’t creative. But the thing is, that’s just part of the process. Trying, learning, failing, and trying again is PLAY! Learning to truly play again as an adult is hard, but sometimes all it takes is a hot glue gun and some pom poms. So, we created The Makerie, where we lure people in with incredible treats from our specialty coffee bar and convert them to crafters.
When not working her day jobs, Kim is an active community member, volunteering on numerous boards focusing on the arts, the bio-economy, community development and community events.
